Accessibility is one of the Cross-Cutting Principles of our Destination Management Plan, meaning it is a universal consideration that will be part of everything we do.
Part of this work is making North Yorkshire an inclusive place for everyone to visit by providing clear and accurate information about our accommodation, attractions and other visitor-facing businesses.
Visit North Yorkshire is working to provide businesses with a choice of ways to make this information available through our website and our expert Accessibility partners.
Accessible North Yorkshire
Accessible North Yorkshire is a new information led scheme currently being piloted in Skipton by businesses that are part of the Skipton BID.
Accessibly North Yorkshire provides businesses with information and examples as to how they can be more accessible and available to the accessibility and includes brand guidelines and an image library.
Branded window stickers are available to allow customers to identify your business and to be linked to your accessible information via a QR code.
A downloadable toolkit is coming soon.

AccessAble

We are delighted to be partnering with AccessAble, the UK‘s largest provider of accessibility information, to promote the importance of Detailed Access Guides.
This VisitEngland supported initiative allows businesses to communicate their facilities to visitors with accessibility needs through a dedicated portal on the AccessAble website.
York & North Yorkshire tourism businesses can undergo an accessibility assessment at a discounted rates. This will include an over-the-phone assessment with a more in-depth, in-person assessment available for an additional cost.
Further Information and support
There are also other existing schemes that are available for businesses and visitors where information and support is available, and these include Euan’s guide, Access Card, and Disability Action Yorkshire.
