Partnership with Transdev puts spotlight on sustainable travel

Throughout this year, we have been working in partnership with bus operator Transdev to champion sustainable travel across North Yorkshire.

With sustainability a key principle of our 10-year Destination Management Plan for North Yorkshire, the collaboration was the perfect opportunity to amplify our shared goal of encouraging sustainable transport options to visitors as well as raise the profile of the Visit North Yorkshire brand on key Transdev bus routes.

As part of the collaboration, we created inspiring content for our social media channels and the Visit North Yorkshire website to showcase days out that can be enjoyed using public transport. This ranged from a reel detailing the journey on a Dalesbus to Grassington to showcasing the scenic views when travelling on the Coastliner from Leeds to Whitby to car-free itineraries hosted on our website and promotion of sustainable travel within key campaigns such as Christmas.

The partnership also provided us with the opportunity to grow our image library with a collaborative photo shoot, which both parties are now able to utilise within marketing materials to encourage the use of public transport to both residents and visitors.

Buses travelling on routes both in and outside of the county were identified as key opportunities to further raise the profile of the Visit North Yorkshire brand and adverts for our 2025 marketing campaign “There’s More to North Yorkshire” were placed on bus backs to further enhance our campaign message.

Matt Burley, Project and Marketing Manager, Transdev Blazefield Ltd said: “We’re delighted to be working with Visit North Yorkshire to promote sustainable transport across the region. With our latest electric and low-emission buses, travelling by bus is a convenient, comfortable, and environmentally friendly way to explore North Yorkshire.

This partnership allows us to connect with new audiences including visitors who may not have considered bus travel before, including leisure travellers, day trippers, and holidaymakers seeking greener ways to explore the county. By working together, we can highlight the incredible destinations our routes serve and make sustainable travel a natural part of the visitor experience.”
