New for the 2027 awards season, four dedicated award categories for North Yorkshire accommodation providers and attractions have been added to the prestigious Visit York Tourism Awards.

The Visit York Tourism Awards celebrate those who demonstrate exceptional quality, innovation and dedication in providing memorable experiences for visitors. From inclusive tourism to sustainable practices, and from the best in accommodation to extraordinary events, these awards shine a spotlight on the very best that the area has to offer.

As part of the Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) between Visit North Yorkshire, Visit York, City of York Council and the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, we have partnered with Visit York to add four new categories to the annual awards for North Yorkshire tourism businesses.

The four North Yorkshire categories are:

  • Large Hotel of the Year
  • Small Serviced Accommodation of the Year
  • Large Visitor Attraction of the Year
  • Small Visitor Attraction of the Year

Winners of these categories will not only gain recognition regionally but will also have the opportunity to compete at the national level in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Tony Watson, Head of Economy & Tourism for North Yorkshire Council said: “We are delighted to introduce four dedicated categories for North Yorkshire businesses within the established Visit York Tourism Awards. In recent years, there has been a gap for our businesses, with limited opportunity to gain recognition at a national level through the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. I’m therefore very pleased that we have been able to create this pathway, ensuring that our outstanding accommodation providers and attractions across the county can now gain the recognition they deserve.

“I would encourage all our partners to get involved and submit an entry in the relevant category.”

It is free for Visit North Yorkshire partners to enter the North Yorkshire-specific  categories. The fee for non-member/partner businesses to enter the relevant categories is £150 +VAT.

Entries for the awards are open now until Friday 11th September, with the awards ceremony taking place at York Racecourse on 11th March 2027.
