The Place Development team are responsible for the delivery of the following activities, key to the delivery of the Destination Management Plan.
- Place development
- Product development
- Project management
- Tourism data
- Securing public sector funding
The Place Development team are also responsible for driving several cross-cutting projects including sustainability and accessibility.
Due to the nature of the activity, the team works closely with colleagues within the Council to ensure alignment with key strategies such as the Economic Growth Strategy and support for inward investment activity as appropriate, and with wider tourism sector stakeholders to support the delivery of the Destination Management Plan. The team works with colleagues at VisitEngland/VisitBritain, City of York Council, Make it York and York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority to ensure a successful York & North Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP).
